Role Based in Gympie, QLD

Internally referred to as Coordinator - Planning Scheme and Strategic Policy

About the Role

Lead the planning framework that guides one of Queensland's fastest-growing regional communities.

Reporting to the Manager Planning Strategy and Growth, you'll join Gympie Regional Council on a permanent full-time basis, leading Council's Planning Scheme review, Local Government Infrastructure Plan and strategic planning policy initiatives that support sustainable growth across the Gympie Region.

Duties

  • Lead Planning Scheme reviews, amendments and strategic planning policy projects
  • Coordinate Council's Local Government Infrastructure Plan and planning studies
  • Provide expert advice on planning legislation, policy and statutory planning matters
  • Build relationships with Council's elected officials, government agencies and industry stakeholders while representing Council in regional planning forums
  • Manage consultants and deliver planning projects on time and within budget

Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • Degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline
  • Experience delivering Planning Scheme reviews and strategic planning policy
  • Experience with Local Government Infrastructure Plans or comparable frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of the Planning Act 2016 and Queensland planning legislation
  • Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence or ability to obtain one
