Strengthen the systems behind Community-led Justice

Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) is seeking an experienced Corporate Services Manager to lead the business and operational functions that support culturally safe legal and justice services across Tasmania.

Based in Hobart, this Executive-level role offers the opportunity to oversee corporate services within a growing Aboriginal community-controlled organisation with clear purpose and statewide impact.

You will receive a salary of $145,656 – $156,060 plus superannuation, with salary sacrifice options, a 35-hour working week, and relocation assistance negotiable for the right candidate.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will oversee the corporate and business functions across TALS while supporting the delivery of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans.

This is a broad, hands-on leadership role spanning finance, HR, IT and data, risk and compliance, administration, communications, reporting, projects and facilities.

You will work closely with the CEO, executive team, professional staff, administrative teams and external stakeholders to ensure TALS has the systems, processes and corporate capability needed to deliver high-quality, culturally safe services.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading corporate services across finance, HR, IT, data, risk, compliance, administration, reporting and facilities
  • Supporting strategic and operational planning across the organisation
  • Strengthening internal systems, governance, processes and reporting
  • Building trusted relationships with staff, leaders and external stakeholders
  • Supporting frontline legal, justice, family violence and community-focused teams
  • Reducing administrative pressure across the organisation as TALS continues to grow

What you’ll bring

This role would suit a trusted corporate services, operations or business leader who combines sound judgement with practical, hands-on leadership.

You do not need to be a lawyer or an accountant. However, you will bring strong commercial thinking, confidence with reporting and compliance, and the ability to understand how corporate services support specialist professionals and frontline teams.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or a similar field
  • Experience in a senior or executive management role
  • Experience across business, corporate administration, operations or corporate services
  • Strong judgement, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence with reporting, compliance, governance and operational requirements
  • A collaborative, values-led leadership style
  • A genuine commitment to culture, community, justice and self-determination

Benefits

You will be rewarded with an executive-level opportunity where your leadership creates meaningful impact behind the scenes.

Benefits include:

  • Salary of $145,656 – $156,060 plus superannuation
  • Salary sacrifice options
  • 35-hour working week
  • Relocation assistance negotiable
  • Pool cars, accommodation and meal allowances for required regional travel
  • Executive-level influence in a growing, purpose-led organisation
  • Meaningful work contributing to justice, equality and human rights outcomes
  • The opportunity to live and work in Hobart, with occasional travel to Launceston and Burnie
