Planet Ark, an Australian not-for-profit organisation set up in June 1991, aims is to show people and business the many ways that they can reduce their day to day impact on the environment - at home, at work and in the community.

About the Opportunity 

 

Due to continued growth and expansion, Planet Ark has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Coordinator Recycling Programs to join their dynamic Sydney team.

 

Based at the Circular Quay office, this role aims to assist and work in association with the Manager of Recycling Programs to ensure the professional, timely and efficient development, delivery and evaluation of Planet Ark's recycling programs.

 

More specifically, some of your key responsibilities and daily duties will include:

 

  • Maintaining campaign records and providing administrative assistance while coordinating public awareness campaigns;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with campaign partners, sponsors, councils, and other key waste/recycling organisations;
  • Keeping  abreast of current waste/recycling/resource recovery issues, programs, facilities, networks and legislation;
  • Handling enquiries from the public, media or industry bodies, as well as the community, environment and corporate groups;
  • Assisting with the recycling pages on the organisation's website and updating contact databases;
  • Undertaking research to assist in the production of research articles and campaign materials; and
  • Reveiwing programs and campaigns to ensure they focus on achieving positive environmental and community development outcomes.

 

The successful candidate will have experience in the development and production of innovative public awareness campaigns, particularly in the area of community waste/recycling. A proven knowledge of recycling, waste mangement and resource recovery processes is essential to this position, along with a background in liaising with graphic designers and knowledge of the print production process.

 

As the position entails liaising with a variety of personnel, including directors, corporate sponsors and the general public, you will need outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be computer literate, and have a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office suite as well as email systems and databases.
