About Wandiyali



Wandiyali is a Newcastle based Indigenous community organisation with services operating throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter region and Port Stephens.



Each year Wandiyali assists hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members through the delivery of its many services. Catering to various ages from birth to elders, the aim of Wandiyali is to 'Keep our Culture Strong' within the local community.



About MST-CAN



Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN), is an evidence-based program that has been specifically designed to support change within vulnerable families who have come to the attention of child protection services.



The goal of MST-CAN is to:



* Keep families together;

* Assure the safety of children;

* Prevent abuse and neglect;

* Reduce mental health difficulties experienced by adults and children; and

* Increase families social supports.

Wandiyali now has an opportunity for a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker to join their team as a Therapist on a full-time basis, in Newcastle, NSW.



Reporting to the MST-CAN Supervisor your primary purpose will be to conduct therapy and case management associated with Multi-Systemic Therapy (Child Abuse and Neglect). You will provide in-home clinical services, negotiate therapeutic goals and use systemic resources to assist in meeting these goals. You will have a case load of up to 4 families around Newcastle.



More specifically, this will include, but not be limited to:



* Conducting MST-CAN assessments including reviewing of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviours within the ecological context;

* Engaging primary caregivers and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement;

* Providing direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices; and

* Maintaining clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with MST principles and the MST analytic process.



This position would be well-suited to an experienced Clinical Psychologist or similar who has a few years experience under their belt and are looking to join an organsation providing MST and MST-CAN services in Australia. Importantly, Wandiyali is looking for candidates who are willing and able to offer home-based intervention services with confidence, professionalism and empathy.
